Former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright has hailed new Swansea City ace Andre Ayew on BBC’s Match of the Day 2.
Wright, who netted an impressive 128 Premier League goals for the Gunners in an illustrious seven-year playing career in north London, has praised Swansea’s Ghanaian star Andre Ayew and has labelled him as the “perfect player” for the Swans.
Wright is not the only pundit who has lauded Ayew this season, another former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry also complemented the winger, saying he was arguably the best Premier League signing of the summer.
After going a few games without a goal, Ayew got his name back on the scoresheet in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend. Wright commended the Swans for their excellent transfer business and was immensely impressed with Ayew’s contribution, Speaking on MOTD 2, the former England striker said;
“He’s relishing the Premier League and he’s a perfect player for Swansea City. They signed Montero last year and now, to be fair, they’ve done it again with Ayew. I thought he was a forward but he’s far more than that.
“We see him chasing back. He’s very tenacious and he’s got a lot of quality about him. We see him on the edge of his own box making great blocks.”
Ayew looks to be enjoying his time in South Wales, after already scoring four and setting-up the winner for Bafetimbi Gomis against Manchester United last month.
The 25-year-old will be looking to build on his goal-scoring performance against Spurs, as the Swansea host Mark Hughes’ Stoke City after the international break.
