Garry Monk’s Swansea City will be looking to get their Barclays Premier League campaign back on track this weekend as they welcome Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
The Swans have never beaten Spurs since gaining promotion to the Premier League in 2011, but a win this weekend would be an extremely welcome result for Monk and his side.
Saturday’s visitors impressively beat Manchester City 4-1 last weekend, before earning a very respectable 1-1 draw with Monaco in the Europa League last night.
As for the Swans, Monk’s team have lost two of their last three league games – scoring just once in the process – which was a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty in the 3-1 loss to Southampton last weekend.
However, despite being “disappointed” with Swansea recently, Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal and England winger Paul Merson has predicted the Swans to stop the rot and get a 1-1 draw against an in-form Tottenham team tomorrow. He said;
“Swansea need to stop believing the hype that surrounds them. They haven’t won a match since everyone started saying how good they were. Jefferson Montero was the reason for their early form, he got injured and recovered but never returned to the team. I have been disappointed with Swansea if I’m being honest.
“Four weeks ago I would have backed Swansea but Spurs head to Wales full of confidence after their win over Man City. I can’t see Spurs losing this one, they’ll comfortably earn a point at the Liberty Stadium.”
