Sky Sports trio Matt Le Tissier, Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson have all picked Swansea City players in their best XI’s of the season so far.
Andre Ayew, Bafetimbi Gomis and Jefferson Montero have all made it into the Sky pundits teams. Ayew, who signed from Marseille on a free transfer in the summer, has arguably been the signing of the season thus far. And, duo Gomis and Montero have both started the season in terrific from – Gomis netted four times in his first four games, whilst Montero has ran rings around his opponents.
Charlie Nicholas had Ayew in his team, Le Tissier had Montero, meanwhile Phil Thompson had both Ayew and Gomis in his XI. The likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Cork and Ashley Williams, who have all had superb campaigns so far, can count themselves very unlucky not to have been included.
After a stunning start to the new season, Swansea’s campaign has hit the buffers somewhat after gaining just a single point from their last two Premier League outings and being knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Championship side Hull City.
However, Garry Monk takes his Swansea team to a Southampton side who have won just one league game this season. The Swans will be heading to St Mary’s full of optimism and expectation, and they will be hoping to return to South Wales with a positive result and performance.
