Swansea City take a break from Premier League action this evening as they travel to Humberside to face Steve Bruce’s Hull City in a Capital One Cup third round tie.
After comfortably seeing off League Two York City in the previous round, the Swans set up a clash with Championship side Hull. Tonight’s hosts saw off Accrington Stanley on penalties in the first round, before beating Rochdale 1-0 in round two.
Both the Swans and the Tigers have had solid starts in their respective leagues. Garry Monk’s Swansea moved up to seventh in the Premier League table after battling to a 0-0 draw with the Toffees on Saturday. Hull are currently fourth in the Championship.
Over the years, Swansea and Hull have locked horns in some real ding-dong battles. The sides met on numerous occasions when they were both in the bottom tier, and who could ever forget the famous 4-2 game which kept Swansea in the Football League in 2003?
