Swansea City pair Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew join the likes of Manchester City duo Aleksander Kolarov and David Silva, Manchester United’s Chris Smalling and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez among the players in contention for August’s Premier League Player of the Month award.
The Swans have begun the new season in outstanding form – and Gomis and Ayew have been at the forefront of Swansea’s excellent start. Between them, they’ve scored all of the club’s Premier League goals so far (seven) – including strikes in the draw with Chelsea and the excellent 2-1 win over Manchester United.
Manager Garry Monk is also in the running for the Manager of the Month accolade for August. Plenty has been said about whether Monk can guide the Swans to an even better finish than their eighth place last term. But the way the Swans have started, there’s no reason why he can’t.
Monk comes up against Crystal Palace’s Alan Pardew, Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini and Leicester City’s Claudio Ranieri.
Swansea travel to Watford this Saturday to take on newly promoted Watford. Monk and the Swans faithful will be hoping they can preserve their unbeaten start to the season.
