Both skipper Ash Williams and Neil Taylor were outstanding in Nicosia last night. Starting with Williams, the Swansea and Wales captain was instrumental in the heart of the Welsh defence. The 31-year-old made a number of important interceptions, he won countless headers and he really was as solid as a rock at the back.
The same can be said about Taylor – the left-back was always available in advanced areas and done everything that was required from him in defence, also. The Swans No. 3 has not only cemented a first-team spot for his club side, he’s become a stalwart regular in Chris Coleman’s ever-improving Wales team.
There were excellent performances all over the pitch last night. Inevitably is was Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale who got the winner, powerfully heading home with eight minutes remaining. But it was the likes of Taylor and the skipper who really led the Dragons to victory.
