Garry Monk’s Swansea City done some superb transfer business over the summer bringing in the likes of Andre Ayew, Eder, Franck Tabanou and Kristoffer Nordfeldt – and their work off the pitch has been rated as one of the best in the Premier League.
The Mirror have ranked all 20 Premier League clubs transfer business during the summer. Only Manchester City were rated higher than the Swans. Mirror writer Jack Lang rated Garry Monk’s side 2nd out of the 20 Premier League clubs, he said;
“It’s been a smooth summer for Garry Monk and his band of entertainers. Andre Ayew’s addition always looked an exciting one and the Ghanaian has hit the ground running with a series of fine displays.
“The fact that Swansea picked him up for nothing speaks volumes about the quality of their scouting network. Eder and Franck Tabanou will provide competition, while none of those leaving will be too sorely missed (with due respect to the pint-sized trooper that is Nathan Dyer).
“The summer leaves the Swans with a squad more than capable of putting together another impressive season in the top flight. Good stuff all round.”
He wasn’t the only one to praise Swansea City’s off the field business. Former player turned Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson also lauded the Swans’ transfer dealings. The ex-Arsenal ace said;
“Andre Ayew was a free transfer! Based on what I’ve seen so far I’ve got to give them A- for that deal alone because he has been a different class. I think they have found an absolute gem in that player.”
The Swans have also caught the eye on the pitch after taking eight points form their first four games, which include an excellent draw at Stamford Bridge and Sunday’s 2-1 win over Manchester United.
