Swansea City’s midfield ace Jonjo Shelvey put in an outstanding performance in the Swans’ first game of the new Premier League season.
Last week, Garry Monk took his Swansea troops to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Despite being real underdogs going into the encounter in west London, the Swans produced a stunning performance in the 2-2 draw – and they may have even left Stamford Bridge slightly disappointed they didn’t return to South Wales with all three points.
There were plenty of standout performances from the Swansea players, and Jonjo Shelvey was certainly one of the them. The 23-year-old ran the show in the middle of the park, and was hugely influential in the heart of Monk’s side. Speaking to Swansea City’s official website, the midfielder said;
“I know I’m only 23 but I feel as though I’m an experienced player within this team and I can help the younger players. I’ve been in the Premier League for a few years and it’s an honour. Pulling on the shirt and seeing the Premier League badge on your arm is a great feeling.
“I’ve played quite a lot of games for my age, and I’ve learned a lot from different situations in games. The level of competition for places we have now is great for the club. It makes you concentrate and work your socks off every day”
