Swansea City’s star goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski signed a new and improved four-year contract extension at the Liberty Stadium yesterday.
Fabianski, who was signed on a free from Arsenal last summer, was one of Swansea’s standout performers last season. Although he had a tough seven-year stay at the Emirates, the stopper was given a new lease of life with the Swans last year.
The 30-year-old produced some outstanding performances, which earned him the Players’ Player of the Year and the Best Newcomer accolades at Swansea’s end of season awards ceremony.

Garry Monk, who was speaking ahead of the Swans’ tough visit to Stamford Bride, praised his goalkeeper and revealed his performances last season merited a new contract. He also expressed that he wants Fabianski and the rest of his squad to to carry on improving this season. Monk said;
“I knew what he was capable of when I looked at him in the summer (prior to his move to Swansea). When I studied and analysed him I knew what he could do and he was exactly what I was looking for.
“It didn’t surprise me that he produced the type of performances that he did, you expect all of that from your players, that’s the reason why they’re here. If anything, you want more from them – it will be the same this year, I want more from Lukasz. Hopefully you will see an even better Lukasz.”
The Polish ‘keeper will be expected to remain Monk’s number one for the upcoming season, despite Kristoffer Nordfeldt’s arrival during the summer.
