TalkSPORT have compiled all of the Premier League clubs’ pre-season results and put them into a ‘pre-season’ Premier League table.
Swansea City may be unbeaten in pre-season, but they’ve only won one out of the four matches they’ve played in. Garry Monk’s side had a very hard, but rewarding week in Grassau, Germany. The Swans drew their first game of pre-season against Borussia Monchengladbach 1-1 and then beat 1860 Munich 2-1. On their return to Britain, two different Swansea sides both earned 1-1 draws against Championship duo Reading and Nottingham Forest last week.
As for the pre-season table, the Swans are only in 14th place. However, they are ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, last year’s champions Chelsea, and Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City.
Even though not an awful lot can be taken from pre-season friendlies, it does make for interesting reading. On the flip side, Bournemouth, Southampton, Arsenal, Norwich City and West Ham United make up the top five respectively.
Swansea City are looking to push on from their record-breaking Premier League campaign last term. They kick off in just over a week’s time with a tough trip to Stamford Bridge, before hosting Steve McClaren’s Newcastle United the following week. Big things are expected from Garry Monk’s side this season, and it will be very interesting to see how the Swans cope with the increased expectation levels.
