holgateYesterday, reports suggested that Aston Villa tabled a £1m bid for the defender’s services, which has reportedly alerted Garry Monk to monitor the situation.

The 18-year-old recently rejected a new and improved deal with the Terriers, and is now set to move on in the summer. Barnsley will want to cash in on their teenage defender as his current Oakwell deal expires in 2016.

Despite Kyle Naughton joining form Tottenham Hotspur in January and Angel Rangel still eager to impress, Swansea look like they are still in the market for another right-back.

Holgate came through the academy at Oakwell and has gone onto make 20 league appearance for the Terriers since breaking into the Barnsley first-team last December.

Despite the Swans’ reported interest, Tim Sherwood’s Villa still remain the favourites to land Holgate’s signature.
