Garry Monk and his Swansea City troops have arrived in Germany ready to kick-start their “intense” pre-season training in Grassau.
The Swansea players are currently being put through their paces as the Swans’ pre-season training has intensified ahead of the new Premier League campaign that kicks off against champions Chelsea in just under four weeks times.
Monk, who recently put pen to paper on a new deal at the Liberty Stadium, spoke out on how the intense fitness camp will benefit the players and prepare them for the start of the new season.
He said; “This week will help us in that because we have our aims. The short term is pre-season, long-term over the years is looking to develop the squad and make us better by getting more quality.
“It has gone well so far – touch wood we have been injury free which is a massive thing – but here we start to ramp up the intensity on the football side of things.”
The Swans face Borussia Monchengladbach in their first pre-season fixture in Grassau on Wednesday. The game will give Garry Monk a first look at his new signings in match action.
